Authorize or cancel a representative in Pro Tax

Here's how to authorize or cancel a representative for a taxpayer in Pro Tax.
Note: The T1 Authorization request form (AuthorizeRep) replaced the T1013 form in the 2019 tax year.
Set up tax options for authorizing a representative
- In Pro Tax, select Tax Settings.
- Under the Prepare Info tab, enter your preparer information.

Authorize a representative
Note: In order to transmit an authorization request or cancellation request, you must file from the latest tax module that supports EFILE, regardless of the year your client is filing a return for.
- In a Pro Tax T1 return, search for the AuthorizeRep form in the Go to… search field.
- Select the form. The Authorization request – signature page opens.
- Taxpayer information populates from information already entered on Info form.
- Select how you want to represent your client. Select Representative, Business, or Group. The numbers will populate from the Tax Settings in Pro Tax.
- Acquire the taxpayer's signature on the form and retain the signed form for your records.
- Select the Authorize/cancel a representative from the EFILE drop-down menu.
- Review the terms and conditions information.
- Select I confirm and select Accept and transmit to confirm and proceed.
Alternatively, the authorize a representative form can be transmitted from the main Pro Tax page if necessary information for the client has been entered and the authorization page has been signed by your customer.
- Select Add from the Author a Rep column.
- The authorize a representative window opens on the right side. Review the terms and conditions and select Accept and transmit.
Cancel a representative

- On Pro Tax, search for the AuthorizeRep form in the Go to… search field.
- Click on the form. The Authorization request – signature page opens.
- Taxpayer information populates from information already entered on Info.
- Select how you want to represent your client. Select Representative, Business, or Group. The numbers will populate from the Tax Settings in Pro Tax.
- Select the Authorize/cancel a representative from the EFILE drop-down menu The terms and conditions menu displays.
- By default Authorize a representative is selected. Select Cancel a representative.
- Review the terms and conditions information.
- Select Accept and transmit to transmit to the CRA.
Alternatively, the authorize a representative form can be transmitted from the main Pro Tax page if necessary information for the client has been entered and the authorization page has been signed by your customer.
- Select Add from the Author a Rep column.
- The authorize a representative window opens on the right side. By default, Authorize a representative is selected. Select Cancel a representative.
- Review the terms and conditions information and select Accept and transmit to transmit to the CRA.
