How holidays impact payroll direct deposit
by Intuit• Updated 3 months ago
What is a payroll transmission?
A payroll transmission occurs when direct deposits (paycheques) are sent to Intuit to be processed.
When are payroll transmissions due?
The deadline is 2 business days before the cheque date, before 5:00 p.m. PT/8:00 p.m. ET. Federal banking holidays are not considered business days.
What happens if a pay date falls on a weekend or holiday?
If your payday falls on a weekend or holiday, approve the direct deposit payroll early enough that employees will get paid on the last business day before the weekend or holiday.
For example, if your payday is on a Friday that's a holiday and you want employees to get paid on Thursday, you should approve payroll by Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. PT/8:00 p.m. ET.
If you approve payroll after that time, employees will likely receive their pay on the next business day.
