The annual recertification window for 2024 will be open from August 1, 2024 through September 30, 2024.
What are the benefits of the recertification program?
We are continuously improving and adding new features to QuickBooks Online. The Annual Recertification program is designed to help you, as a Certified ProAdvisor, stay updated with the latest QuickBooks Online features and functionalities.
Do I have to recertify this year?
Recertified in 2023 | Yes |
Certified before August 1, 2023 | Yes |
Certified on or after August 1, 2023 | No |
Still not sure? Don't worry, we send email communications to all those required to complete recertification.
Where do I access the exam?
You can access the annual recertification exam from the ProAdvisor training tab inside QuickBooks Online Accountant as of August 1, 2024.
What is the recertification deadline?
The QuickBooks Online recertification exam must be completed no later than September 30, 2024.
How long does the recertification usually take?
The QuickBooks Online Recertification exam consists of 20 multiple choice questions.
If you are confident in your QuickBooks Online knowledge and are up to date with the latest product features, you’ll be able to complete the exam in less than 30 minutes.
Will there be training available to help me prepare for the recertification exams?
Absolutely! Training webinars will be available for registration within QuickBooks Online Accountant training tab. Bi-weekly webinars will be offered in English and French to help you prepare.
A recording of one of the webinars will also be available for on-demand viewing at any time.
Do I need to attend a webinar before taking the recertification exam?
While the webinar is helpful and strongly recommended, it is not required. If you are confident with your QuickBooks Online skills and are up-to-date with the latest product features, you can take the exam directly.
Will CPD credits be offered for attending the recertification webinar?
Yes. CPD credits will be offered to participants that attend the live webinars only.
How many attempts do I get on the recertification exam?
You have unlimited attempts when completing the Annual Recertification exam.
What happens if I don’t pass my recertification exam by the September 30 deadline or if I don’t take the recertification exam at all?
If you miss the September 30, 2024 deadline, your Certified ProAdvisor status will no longer be active and the associated points will be removed from your ProAdvisor point balance. If applicable, your listing on the Find-a-ProAdvisor directory may be removed at the same time.
Please note that a decrease in your QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor points balance could change your ProAdvisor tier and associated benefits.
In order to reinstate your QuickBooks Certified ProAdvisor status, you will need to rewrite the full QuickBooks Online and/or QuickBooks Online Advanced certification exams.
I’ve been certified under multiple QuickBooks Online Accountant accounts in the past, do I need to take the recertification exam for all of my accounts?
You may have received multiple emails to take the recertification exam on all of your accounts. However, you only have to recertify with the QuickBooks Online Accountant account that you’re actively using.
If I am QuickBooks Online Advanced Certified, how does the recertification program affect me?
If you’re currently QuickBooks Online Advanced Certified, you are still required to complete the recertification exam. This exam is the same regardless of your certification level, it will help you maintain the highest level of certification you currently have.
Do I gain points towards my QuickBooks ProAdvisor Program points balance for completing the recertification exam?
By completing the recertification exam, you maintain the points awarded for your certification status level (100 points for QuickBooks Online and 200 points for QuickBooks Advanced Certifications, respectively).
If the primary admin of the accounting firm does not recertify, will my individual listing on Find-a-ProAdvisor be removed?
No, each Find-a-ProAdvisor profile is certified independently and your individual listing will not be removed. Find-a-ProAdvisor profiles are created at the individual level, not the firm level, and there is no dependency on the primary admin being certified.
If I have an issue with my recertification exam, where can I go to get support?
You can access our support channels through the help link at the top right corner of the QuickBooks Online Accountant page.
How do I know if I qualify for the early bird recertification incentive?
Eligible QuickBooks Online ProAdvisors that pass the exam and recertify during the early bird incentive window (until August 30) will be prompted with a message after they have completed the recertification exam.
