Restore missing customized templates, logos and information from a restored backup

by Intuit Updated 4 months ago

Learn to restore missing customized templates, logos and information from a restored backup.

The backup process in QuickBooks Desktop includes files related to the company file and stored in a special folder during the restore process. These files are not automatically restored to prevent overwriting other existing related files that you may want to keep. Thus, restoring a backup of your company file to a new computer or location may result to missing information on you Loan Manager and Fixed Asset Manager (FAM) or missing customized forms and logos.

To bring these files into the restored company file, you must manually copy the files to the appropriate directory and overwrite existing default templates and files created by other users, as appropriate. Remember that only the files that existed on the computer where the backup was created can be restored.

  1. Search and open the folder Restored_CompanyName_Files where CompanyName is the name of your company file.
NOTE: This folder is located on the same directory/location as your restored company file (.qbw)
  2. Copy the file(s) you wish to restore to the appropriate location.
