not sure why client explorer is suddenly greyed out today?

did you resolve it or was it resolved through an update?  I still have the same issue, and I am up to date.

i resolved it. go to options/database and select use client explorer.

Man, you can tell it's tax time.  I looked at the options many times.  Maybe a good slap upside the head is all i needed..lol.
