Do I enter a gain from a cryptocurrency transaction as a capital gain? if so, the drop down on the S3 detail page, doesn't have "cryptocurrency" as an option-would I just use the mutual fund/share category? TIA
I see this is from 2021, but figured there might be someone searching for the answer.
In Profile, if you go to Schedule 3 and double click into really any line, you'll come to a screen for 'capital gains' where you can enter the detailed information. From there, you'll see 'transaction type' and can select 'Virtual currency transactions (cryptocurrency, tokens, etc.)'. Once you enter the figures, this will link to the correct line on Schedule 3... which happens to be line 3 for publicly traded shares etc.
