Have a client, independent insurance appraiser, who spends 40% of his time on the road dealing with farm, heavy-duty equipment & vehicles, transport trucks, trailers, and rec vehicles. He provides causes and origin investigation for valuations, damages, failure analysis. Does ALOT of traveling provinces wide and goes cross border at times where 30% of the time he hauls back stuff for salvage or held for legal purposes/proceedings in his storage unit of 1500sf where 1100 is used for this (or 73%). The other 60% of his time is used in his home where 22% of his home is used for his office preparing reports. Technically, 93% (73 plus 22) would be considered "write off" for his job....but that does seem awfully high. Wondering if anyone has had any experience with this that can pass some advice along?
