The pensioner has always split her pension with her husband. Unfortunately he passed in January of 2023. Am I still able to split pension for the entire year or just one month? I have read various articles and they don't seem to agree. CRA isn't too clear on this either. They do say you can split pension in the year of death if the spouse splitting is alive but they don't clarify any further. Any help would be appreciated.

I am replying to my own message in case anyone else has a similar issue. I just spent an hour on the phone with CRA. I should have read the form. Apparently line 18 covers the issue. You can only split for the number of months the pensioner's spouse is alive.
