My Client has an adult daughter who attended 2 different Universities in 2020 for 4 months each. She has completed the transfer section on the back of the T2202. She transferred the total Tuition fees from one T2202 but a partial amount from the Second T2202. My question is: Do I add the 2 totals she wrote in as transferring to her father and put that in the tuition fees (Transferring section)? She only wrote the tuition amount on line 1 (Federal Tuition amount). Any help would be appreciated.
You have to set the daughter up as a dependant on the "Dependant" screen and fill in the "Transfers from dependants" on that screen. You would add the two tuition fees that she is transferring on the first line, but you also have to put the daughter's adjusted net income for the transfer to be eligible. The program will highlight the boxes yellow that you need to complete.
She has no income so I would just put 0.00 in the adjusted income?
Yes, put zero if she has no income reported on her tax return.
