HELP!
I have a client whose wife just arrived in January of 2022 and was supporting her the entire 2021.
I am unsure of how to do their taxes. The husband will be processed as normal as he has been here a long time. How about the wife's return?? Does she need to file her 2021 tax return? Creating the Wife's profile I'll need to enter her arrival but she didn't arrive until January 2022
I included a photo with questions in the image.
Thank you guys!!
Hi Vin,
The screen shoot you had was correct.
Enter dates when she come in Canada as PR, work permit or student permit as well (see attached). Profile will ask for her foreign income and you will need to fill that as well. This will used to calculate GST and other benefits. She will get a letter from CRA saying we can't calculate your foreign income. She can call CRA and update her foreign income so that the GST will be calculated correctly.
Hope this helps.
