Marital Status

I have a client who got divorced in October 2018. Her divorce is finalized in October 2018. Do I choose "Single" or "Divorced" for her marital status in 2018? How about her status in 2019? She did not remarry. Thank you.

Marital Status

Hi, thank you for using Intuit ProFile Community

The CRA documentation says "“Divorced” means that you have legally been divorced from your former spouse." It does not say to use just in the year the divorce was finalized, but, more information can be found here

Hope this helps

The Government says--once you have been Married you can never be "single" again, you are either "divorced" "separated" or "widowed"
