Thank you for using ProFile,
ProFile will not allow a return to be transmitted without first and last names. I would suggest contacting CRA and asking them what's the best way to proceed. They might suggest that you paper file.

I have same problem with return without first name. Please advise do I need to paper file my client’s first return?
I bet these are new arrivals to Canada. Ask for the documentation they received when the SIN was issued. Even that won't guarantee it was entered in the CRA system correctly. I have also been successful calling the efile helpdesk. 1-800-461-1806.
Hi, thank you for using Intuit ProFile Community
As mentioned in this thread you should consult CRA for available filing methods. The CRA filing requirements and error checking for electronic filing require a first and last name: not sure whether or not CRA has a workaround for this.
Hope this helps
How did you manage this issue?
I am facing same problem. Any help would be great.
Ask the client for their SIN card. If you still don't have it accepted then phone the efile helpdesk in your area. Currently efile is closed Jan 28 2022 until Feb 21, 2022
Hey, were you able to solve this issue coz I am facing the same issue now.
As stated last year, ask client for the documents received giving their SIN number. Call the efile desk with the info in hand, they usually are able to tell you how the name shows on the account. Hope this helps.
Hi,
I agree you should contact the CRA e-file help desk. They should be able to help with this e-file error. The phone number for your tax center can be found here
