Hi, I'm filling out the T2222 for the first time for a client that is in a Zone B. It's a family of 4 (married couple both with incomes and 2 kids age 17 and 18 also with incomes). I can't seem to find information about if each person gets to claim the full amount of the NRD on each of their return. I get no flags saying only one person of the family can claim it so can all four of them claim the NRD in full? The software seems to allow it but online I find conflicting information.
Secondly, when using the $1200 standard amount I'm so confused filling out the charts. Can the father (highest income) claim all the travel for the whole family or only up to his $1200? I can't figure out how to fill out Chart A to allocate which amounts go to who. It doesn't seem to affect any other calculations or forms in the software. I had originally put all the trips for all 3 people on the fathers form in chart B but the software didn't cap the travel deduction at all so I'm not sure if this is correct. Do I need to just put each persons travel on their own T2222s and they all claim their own only?
And lastly, does the travel deduction have to be $1200 before the 50% calculation (since they're zone B) or after the 50% calculation? The software didn't cap any of those amounts so I'm lost! Thanks so much if anyone has any insights for me!
