GDPR - How to export, download or delete your account data

We have implemented an automatic data deletion service that can be accessed from your account management page.

Note: As long as you don’t have an open, existing request, you can make a request to download or delete your data at any time.

Download your personal data

You can now download a copy of your personal data that has been collected by Intuit during your use of QuickBooks, for example: your surname/first names, email address, business address, payment card, etc.

Each request will be handled within 15 days, depending on the size of the request. If the request takes longer than 15 days, we will let you know and keep you informed. 

Your personal data should not be confused with your accounting data, which you can export using the steps detailed in this article.

Here is how to download a copy of your personal data:

  1. Sign in to your Intuit Account.
  2. Select Data privacy, then select Download.
  3. On the next page, select Continue to send us the request for access to the copy of your personal data.
  4. Confirm that you are requesting a copy of the personal data for the correct account and select Continue.
  5. If you have multiple companies, you will need to select all the data you want to download and select Continue.
  6. Confirm your company data choice(s) and select Continue.
  7. You will shortly receive a confirmation email from do_not_reply@intuit.com, confirming that the data is being processed.
  8. You will receive a second confirmation email once the request is ready.

If an error message is displayed stating that "We have experienced a problem. Refresh and try again.", check that the email address linked to your Intuit Account has been confirmed. To do this:

  1. From your QuickBooks account, select the profile icon, then select Manage your Intuit Account.
  2. Select Sign in & security. If the Email address has not yet been confirmed, select Verify email, and follow the steps to verify it.

Requesting deletion of data

For us to be able to delete your personal data, you must first cancel any subscriptions linked to your email address. Once we have received your request, you will have one day to change your mind. Once the request has been made, deletion will take around 1 month.

Important: If you use a single username for several QuickBooks subscriptions, we will delete all of the data associated with these accounts. If you have multiple accounts with a different username for each of them, you must send us a request for each username.

Here are the steps to follow to request the deletion of your data:

  1. Sign in to your Intuit Account.
  2. Select Data privacy, then select Delete.
  3. Select Make a delete request.
  4. Confirm that the selected Intuit Account is correct, then select Continue.
  5. Once the request has been correctly logged in our system, you will be automatically logged out and you will receive a notification about the deletion request.

Deletion of your data will take around one month from the time at which the account no longer has an active subscription.

Important: We recommend that you download the information from your account before you submit the deletion request. Once we have deleted your data, this action cannot be reversed, we cannot recover the deleted data or reactivate your account.

Please note that Intuit might be required to retain some of your information for as long as necessary to:

  • Comply with our legal or regulatory compliance needs
  • To exercise, establish, or defend legal claims
  • To protect against fraudulent or abusive activity on our service
