Delete sales tax rates and agencies in QuickBooks Online
by Intuit• Updated 5 months ago
Currently, there is no way to delete a tax rate or a tax agency in QuickBooks Online. If you no longer need or use them, you can deactivate the tax rate or rename the tax agency.
Note: | If you don't see the settings below, you may be using Auto Sales Tax feature. See Set up and use Automated Sales Tax for more information. |
Deactivate a tax rate
Important: You CANNOT reactivate a tax rate. If you need it for future use, you’ll have to create a new one.
- Go to Taxes.
- Select Edit GST, then select Edit rates.
- Find the tax rate you want to deactivate, then switch it from On to Off.
To reactivate the tax code, select the gear icon above the Action tab and mark Include inactive to show all deactivated tax codes. Pick the tax code you want to reactivate, then switch it to On.
Rename a tax agency
- Go to Taxes.
- Next to Tax, select the dropdown, then select agency you want to edit.
Note: You can edit only a custom tax agency created by you. - Select the Edit < agency name > dropdown, then select Edit settings.
- Edit Tax agency name, then select Save.
