Find answers to common questions about the QuickBooks ProAdvisor training and certification programme. This article covers the programme structure, points system, grace period for tiers, and member benefits.

Understanding the ProAdvisor Programme

The QuickBooks ProAdvisor Programme provides benefits and resources designed to help accounting professionals grow their practice, enhance their skills, and increase their QuickBooks expertise. Benefits include access to training materials, dedicated Customer Support, strategic marketing tools, and accountant-specific product discounts.

You earn points and rewards for activities such as adding clients and completing certifications. Accumulating points allows you to unlock higher tiers and access more benefits.

The ProAdvisor Programme is free for all accounting professionals using QuickBooks Online Accountant.

The programme has been redesigned with a new points-based structure, updated benefits, and an improved in-product experience. For a detailed summary of these changes, check out a complete overview about the ProAdvisor Programme.

No, you will retain all existing benefits. The changes also do not influence your listing on Find-a-ProAdvisor, provided you maintain an active certification to publish your profile.

Intuit redesigned the programme based on member feedback, insights into the challenges accountants face in growing their businesses, and global accounting industry trends. The aim is to build long-term partnerships that support members in expanding their practice and QuickBooks Online expertise.

The redesigned programme features four tiers: Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Elite. The Bronze tier has been replaced by the Silver tier, which offers the same benefits previously associated with Bronze.

New members of QuickBooks Online Accountant automatically start at the Silver tier. Practices need the following points to unlock higher tiers:

  • Silver: 0 to 199 points
  • Gold: 200 to 799 points
  • Platinum: 800 to 2,999 points
  • Elite: 3,000+ points

Earning and managing points

Points are awarded based on the collective achievements of all members within the same QuickBooks Online Accountant practice. You earn points by completing specific actions:

  • Adding a QuickBooks Online subscription for a client.
  • Completing certification for QuickBooks Online.
  • Completing advanced certification for QuickBooks Online.

Points for QuickBooks Online client subscriptions are awarded as long as the accountant remains connected to the client's account and the subscription is active.

Log in to QuickBooks Online Accountant and select the ProAdvisor tab to see your current point balance. You can go straight to your account.

Points expire if the action that earned them is no longer valid. For instance, if a client cancels their QuickBooks Online subscription for which you received 10 points, those 10 points will be deducted from your practice's balance.

Understanding grace period

If your QuickBooks Online Accountant practice's point balance falls below a tier's threshold, a grace period prevents immediate loss of tier status and benefits. This period allows time to earn the necessary points to maintain the tier.

If the required points threshold is not met by the end of the grace period, all members of the practice will move to the appropriate lower tier based on the current points balance.

To acknowledge past participation, members are guaranteed one year in the equivalent tier under the relaunched ProAdvisor Programme, with full access to that tier's benefits. After this year, the points balance will determine the tier placement.

When a practice's point balance falls below a tier requirement, a 90-day grace period begins. During these 90 days, all members retain full access to their current tier's benefits. If the threshold isn't met by the end of this period, the practice moves to the lower tier.
