Most of the time, moving from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online is quick and easy. But there are some issues you may encounter during or after switching over. A common issue is if your company data file is too large, but don't worry, this easily resolved.
- In QuickBooks Desktop, press Ctrl + 1 on your keyboard.
- Then check the file size. The file can only have a maximum of 500,000 Total Targets to import. If your file exceeds this, enter your customer opening balances in a new QuickBooks Online file. Note: We recommend doing this at a period end, or even better, at your financial year end.
- Then follow these steps to move your QuickBooks Desktop file to QuickBooks Online.
