Submitting an FPS or EYU in QuickBooks Desktop

Starting with QuickBooks 2018, you can submit a Full Payment Submission (FPS) or Earlier Year Update (EYU) separately from completing your payroll payments. You can also create further payroll payments before you send your next FPS submission, except for those employees for whom an FPS submission is pending.

Note: When you have completed a payroll payment but not yet sent an FPS, you will see a To Send indicator on that payroll payment in the Recent Payrolls list on the Pay Employees tab of your Payroll Centre.

  1. Go to the Employees menu, select RTI, and then select Submit FPS/EYU.
Note: You can also double-click the payroll payment in the Recent Payrolls list on the Pay Employees tab, or highlight RTI - FPS/EYU in the list on the File Forms tab and select Process Form|Submit.
  2. Select the tax year for which you want to make a submission. This will determine whether you are sending an FPS or an EYU submission.
  3. Select the payroll payments that you want this submission to cover in the list of pending submissions for that tax year.
  4. Select Submit FPS/EYU.
