Learn how to create, manage, and track your projects and tasks using the Work tab in QuickBooks Online Accountant.
Manage your team's work. Create projects and tasks to organize and track it. Here's how.
Reminder:
- Any member of your team can access the Work tab.
- Your team can see the items for clients that they have access to in the Team tab.
- As long as a user has access to a client, they can edit any work items for that client.
Step 1: Create a project
Create projects to track the work your team needs to complete.
- Go to Work, then select Create project. The Create project panel appears.
- Fill out the fields.
- (optional) If you want your project to repeat at specific intervals, select the Create recurring schedule switch. Then, set the interval, day of the recurrence, and end time.
- Select Save.
Step 2: Manage projects
Make changes to a project or delete them when they’re no longer needed. You can also create stand-alone tasks that aren’t associated with a project.
Edit a project
Make changes to a project if you need to.
- Go to Work, then select a project.
- Select the Edit details ▼ dropdown, then the edit option preferred.
- Make the desired changes, then select Save.
Delete a project
Delete a project if it's no longer needed.
- Go to Work, then select ⋮ in the Action column of the project.
- Select the delete option, then select Delete to confirm.
Create stand-alone tasks
Create stand-alone tasks that aren’t associated with a project.
- Go to Work, then select Standalone tasks.
- Select Add task.
- Enter the task name.
- Add specific details in the Description box.
- In the Assign to ▼ dropdown, select the team member you’ll assign the task to.
Note: If you’ll assign a task to a new team member, they need to sign in to the account first for their name to appear in the dropdown. - Set the status by selecting the Status ▼ dropdown.
- Set the client by selecting the Client ▼ dropdown.
- Select the due date, then select Save.
