Learn how to refresh your connection for Express Web Connect online banking in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac

We’ve updated bank feeds to make for a more secure and better banking experience.
You may need to reconnect your accounts to continue with online banking services. Review these affected accounts:
Account reconnection required:
Account reconnection is required for the these Financial Institutions:
- American Express by 03/30/2023
- Select American Express Card - QBDT in Online Banking Setup for Credit Card or Charge Card accounts
- Select American Express Delegate in Online Banking Setup if:
- You're a Delegate User and Non-Account Holder authorized to connect accounts in Intuit's products
- You need to link an account that isn't a Credit Card or Charge Card account.
- American Express @work
- Online banking for American Express @work isn't available. We're working with American Express to fix this.
- Bank of America by 10/11/2022
- Select Bank of America - New in Online Banking Setup
- Chase Bank, First USA, Card Member Services, and Bank One by 9/27/2022
- Select Chase Bank (All) - New for any of these banks in Online Banking Setup
- USAA Federal Savings Bank by 8/7/2023.
- Select USAA Federal Savings Bank - New in Online Banking Setup
Step 1: Prepare to refresh your online banking downloads
Make sure to clear any pending transactions.
- Update QuickBooks to the latest release.
- Download transactions in online banking.
- Add and match previously downloaded transactions.
- Create a backup of your company file.
Step 2: Turn off online banking services for your account
Before you update your online banking connections, close the downloaded transactions window, and disconnect all related accounts. Reconnect them in the next step.
Step 3: Set up an account for online banking services
To download your bank transactions, set up your bank account in QuickBooks:
- Sign in to your Intuit Account if you’re not already. You can do so from Preferences, then select Intuit Account.
Note: If you haven't yet, you can create an Intuit account or recover your user ID and password. - Go to Banking and select Online Banking Setup.
- Enter the account name and select Next.
Note: Use the updated account name shown in the Account reconnection required list. - Select OK when you’re asked to open an external browser.
- Select Continue.
Note: This window will automatically close. If any error occurs, you can close the window and repeat the setup process again. - Sign in to your account and follow the instructions to activate it to download transactions.
- Once activation completes, select Next.
- Select the account(s) you want to connect and select Next
Step 4: Download transactions with Express Web Connect
Everything’s set. The next time you use online banking, the latest transactions will be available to download. Note: After setup, you may see the previous day of transactions that you’ll need to review and categorize.
- Go to Banking, then Downloaded Transactions.
- From QuickBooks Account ▼, select the account you wish to download.
- Select Download.
