Set a Default Logo
by Intuit• Updated about 1 hour ago
When your branding is consistent from email to email, it unifies your content, reinforces the personality of your business, and helps you look like a professional. Set a default logo in Mailchimp, and we’ll automatically add your branding to our templates.
In this article, you’ll learn how to set a default logo for your emails.
Before you start
Here are some things to know before you begin this process.
- This article tells you how to set a default logo in the content studio and classic builder. For more information on logos in the new builder, check out our article on Logo content blocks.
- Because you can only have one default logo per Mailchimp account, this feature is best suited for accounts that are dedicated to a single brand.
- When you save images, use PNG, JPG, or GIF format. You can use the PNG format if you need to retain transparency.
For more information on each email builder and their content blocks, check out About Mailchimp’s Email Builders.
About your logo
Many of Mailchimp’s email templates include a logo placeholder in the upper section. This space is designed to showcase your branding upfront, so people can immediately identify you and your content.
You can choose to manually insert your brand image into this placeholder each time you create an email, or you can automate that step with a default logo.
When you set a default logo, your brand image will automatically appear anywhere you have a logo placeholder in your templates and emails. Each time you set a new logo, your templates and emails will automatically update. If you delete a logo, your image will revert to an empty placeholder. The image won't be deleted from your files in the content studio.
Here are some template types that contain the logo placeholder by default.
- Featured and Basic layouts (except Simple Text)
- Abandoned cart templates
- Landing page templates
- Product retargeting email template
To add your default logo to a template that doesn't include the placeholder by default, use the logo merge tag.
Set a default logo
You’ll set your default logo in the content studio.
To set a default logo, follow these steps.
- Click Content, then click My files.
- Click the image you want to use as your logo.
- Click the View details drop-down and choose Set my logo.
As soon as you set your logo, it'll appear anywhere you have a logo placeholder in your templates and emails.
From the classic builder
To set a default logo from the classic builder, follow these steps.
- In your layout, click the logo placeholder.
- In the editing pane, click Replace.
- In the content studio, click the image you want to use as your logo.
- Click the View details drop-down menu and choose Set My Logo.
- On the My Logo tab, click Insert.
Nice job! You’ve added your logo to the template you’re working with, as well as any other templates or emails that contain the logo placeholder.
Use the logo merge tag
If your template doesn’t include a logo placeholder by default, use our logo merge tag to add one.
To use the logo merge tag, follow these steps.
- Drag the Code content block into your drag-and-drop template, or use a custom-coded template.
Add the *|BRAND:LOGO|* merge tag in place of an image URL in your code. It should look something like this.
<img src="*|BRAND:LOGO|*">
- Preview and test your email in the email builder to see how the image will display.
