Unsubscribe People from Your Marketing Content

When a contact is opted out of your email or SMS marketing, we mark the contact as unsubscribed. An unsubscribed contact can always be resubscribed if they were removed by mistake or choose to receive your content again.

In this article, you'll learn how to unsubscribe contacts individually and in bulk.

From the contact table

To unsubscribe individual addresses from the contact table, follow these steps.

1. Click Audience.
2. If you have more than 1 audience, click the Audience drop-down and choose the one you want to work with.
3. Check the box next to each subscribed contact you want to unsubscribe.
4. Click Edit subscription. Choose Email subscription or SMS subscription based on the channel you’re unsubscribing them from.
5. For Email subscription, click Unsubscribed, then click Unsubscribe contacts. For SMS subscription, click Unsubscribed, then type UNSUBSCRIBE. Next, click Unsubscribed contacts.

From a contact profile page

To unsubscribe a single contact from their profile, follow these steps.

1. Click Audience.
2. If you have more than 1 audience, click the Audience drop-down and choose the one you want to work with.
3. Find the contact you want to unsubscribe and click to view their profile.
4. Click Actions, then choose Unsubscribe (Email) or Unsubscribe (SMS).
5. In the Unsubscribe pop-up modal, click Confirm Unsubscribe.

On the contacts Activity feed, we'll display when and how they were unsubscribed.

Bulk unsubscribe

If you have a lot of email contacts to unsubscribe, you can use our bulk unsubscribe tool. Paste up to 3,000 email addresses into the field at one time and we'll make sure they're unsubscribed.

To unsubscribe multiple contacts at once, follow these steps.

1. Click Audience.
2. If you have more than 1 audience, click the Audience drop-down and choose the one you want to work with.
3. Click Manage Audience, then choose Unsubscribe email addresses.
4. Type or paste in the addresses you want to unsubscribe in the Email addresses field, then click Unsubscribe.

• If an email address is manually unsubscribed from your email marketing, they won't receive a confirmation email or unsubscribe message.
• The bulk unsubscribe option is for email addresses only. To unsubscribe an SMS contact, you can do so from the contact table or the contact profile.
