Use Meta Custom Audience Actions
by Intuit• Updated 4 weeks ago
Customer Journey actions perform marketing or organizational tasks in your journey map. Use Meta Custom Audience actions to add or remove Mailchimp contacts to or from a Meta Custom Audience in your Meta Business account. This allows you to maintain an engaged audience, then target contacts with Meta ads or other marketing.
In this article, you’ll learn how to use a Meta Custom Audience action.
Before you start
Here are some things to know before you begin this process.
- To learn more about Customer Journeys, how they work, and what you can do with your plan, check out About Customer Journeys.
- Meta Custom Audience actions are available to users with a Standard plan or higher. To change your plan type, visit the plans page in your account.
- To use a Meta Custom Audience action in your journey map, you’ll need to connect the Meta Business Extension to your Mailchimp account. To learn more, check out Connect or Disconnect the Meta Business Extension. Note that the Meta Business Extension is different from the Facebook integration.
- Our pre-built journey maps use default starting points, rules, and actions. To learn more, check out Use Pre-Built Journey Maps.
How it works
After you connect the Meta Business Extension, use a Customer Journey action to add Mailchimp contacts to your Meta Custom Audience or remove them from it. Add a Meta Custom Audience action to a new or existing journey, and we’ll automatically update your Meta Custom Audience. This helps save you time, and it keeps your contact data relevant for future marketing.
Add a Meta Custom Audience action
The Meta Custom Audience action limits the need to manually manage your Meta Custom Audience.
To add a Meta Custom Audience action to a journey map, follow these steps.
Hover over the plus icon (+) on the step where you want the rule to occur, then click Add a journey point.
In the Integrations section, click Meta Custom Audience.
In the Meta Custom Audience pop-up modal, choose a Meta Custom Audience from the Custom Audience drop-down, then choose the action you want to take in the Action drop-down.
If you haven’t connected the Meta Business Extension to your Mailchimp account, you’ll need to do so before you can add a Meta Custom Audience action to your journey map. In the Meta Custom Audience pop-up modal, click Set Up Integration, then follow the steps to connect.
When you’re ready, click Save.
Well done! You’ll see the Meta Custom Audience action in your journey map. Repeat these steps to add additional actions to your Customer Journey.
Your Customer Journey must be active for the Meta Custom Audience action to work. After the first contact is added or removed from your Meta Custom Audience, a count will show on your journey action. The count is updated as contacts are added to or removed from your Meta Custom Audience.
