Use Discount Content Blocks in the New Builder

by Intuit• Updated 1 week ago

Use Discount content blocks to send contacts single-use discount codes. Unique codes help you manage who receives discounts and how often a discount is used. Unique codes also provide extra tracking opportunities as you can see exactly who redeemed a code and how much revenue they generate.

In this article, you’ll learn how to use Discount content blocks in the new email builder.

Before you start

Here are some things to know before you begin this process:

For more information on each email builder and their content blocks, check out About Mailchimp's Email Builders.

Add a Discount content block to your email

To add a Discount content block to your automation email, follow these steps.

  1. Click and drag a Discount content block into your email.
  2. In the Create unique discount pop-up, set the rules of your discount.

    • Discount type
Choose if your discount is a fixed amount, a percentage, or for free shipping. For fixed amount or percentage discounts, enter the Discount value. For free shipping, select the countries the discount Applies to.
    • Minimum purchase amount (optional)
The discount won’t be applied if a purchase is lower than the amount entered here.
    • Expiration (optional)
To set an expiration date, select the After a certain number of days radio button. Then enter the number of Days until the discount expires. Expirations are based on when an email is sent. For example, if the expiration is set to expire after 5 days, it will expire 5 days after Mailchimp sends the email containing the unique discount code.
    • Code prefix
A code prefix can contain up to 7 characters. It’s applied to the beginning of all generated codes for this discount.
    • Internal discount name
This is the name you’ll use to identify and manage the discount within your Mailchimp and Shopify accounts.
  3. Click Continue.
  4. In the Content tab, enter the Description text. This text appears in your email right before the discount code.
  5. Enter the Button text. This button links to your store and automatically applies the unique discount code.
  6. In the Discount code details section, use the sliders to show or hide the Description and Expiration date in your email.
  7. Use the Styles tab to edit styles and settings as needed. Use the Code, Description, Expiration, and Button tabs to edit styles for each individual component.
  8. Click Save and exit to save your changes.

That’s it! Manage Discount Codes in your Mailchimp account. Find reporting data for discount codes in your Shopify account.

Enable dynamic content

You can turn any content block into dynamic content that displays different content to recipients based on conditions you set. This helps target different types of contacts at the same time with a single email.
