Get help right in QuickBooks whenever you have questions. If you need more support, you can connect with a QuickBooks expert for one-on-one guidance.

You can get help by using the Help option inside your QuickBooks product to find answers to common questions about connecting with an expert, support hours, or availability. If you can’t find the answers you need, you can connect with an expert. Here’s how:

Find your product for steps on how to find articles or connect with an expert.



QuickBooks Online

These steps apply to:

  • QuickBooks Online EasyStart, QuickBooks Online Plus, QuickBooks Online Advanced, QuickBooks Online Accountant, or ProAdvisor products. 
  • QuickBooks Online Payroll Core, QuickBooks Online Payroll Premium, QuickBooks Online Payroll Elite, and QuickBooks Time. 
  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Online.
  2. Select the help icon Help.
  3. Select one of the following options to get help:
    • Assistant tab: Enter your question in the Type or ask something field, then select one of the answers or the options, which the QuickBooks Assistant provides.
    • Search tab: Enter your question in the Search questions, keywords, or topics field to get a list of related articles.

Connect with an expert

If you still need help, follow these steps to connect to an expert. 

  • Assistant tab: Enter contact a human and follow the prompts till you see an option to connect with a support professional.
  • Search tab: Select Contact Us and follow the prompts.

QuickBooks Desktop

These steps apply to:

  • QuickBooks Desktop Pro, Premier, and Enterprise.
  1. Open QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Go to the Help menu and select QuickBooks Desktop Help/Contact Us. This opens the Help window.
    Tip: you can also press F1 on your keyboard to open the Help window.
  3. Use the Search questions, keywords, or topics field to enter your question. 
  4. Select from the list of related articles displayed.

Connect with an expert

If you don’t get the answers you need, select Contact Us in the help window. You can choose between getting a callback or chatting with us.

Tip: If you don’t see the Help menu, check your screen settings in QuickBooks Desktop or update its version.

  1. Follow the link to go to the support page.
  2. Select QuickBooks Self-Employed and enter your question.
  3. Select Continue and follow the instructions to sign in to your account to connect with an expert.
