Disconnect an app in QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Online Accountant

This article is for third-party apps in QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Online Accountant.

After you install apps, you can disconnect an app or do it for one of your clients. Here’s how.
Disconnect installed apps
If you're the user that connected the app
QuickBooks Online
- Select Apps, then select Overview.
- Find the app you need to disconnect.
- Select the ▼ dropdown next to Launch, then select Disconnect.
- Complete the short questionnaire.
- Select Disconnect to remove the app from your company profile.
QuickBooks Online Accountant
- Select Apps, then select Firm apps.
- Find the app you need to disconnect.
- Select the ▼ dropdown next to Launch, then select Disconnect.
- Complete the short questionnaire.
- Select Disconnect to remove the app from your company file.
If you're not the user that connected the app
Only QuickBooks Online Admin users can connect and manage apps for their company or firm.
However, for QuickBooks Online Accountant Firms, only Firm owners can connect and manage apps for a client.
Change the Admin of the app connection
Note: You'll see the option to Change Admin only if you are trying to install an app that has already been installed by another admin user for your company or firm.
- Select Apps, then select Find apps.
- Search for the app you're interested in.
- Select the app, then select Get app now.
- If the app hasn't already been installed for your company or firm:
- Review the Authorization page and select Connect.
- Follow the steps to connect to the app.
- If the app has already been installed for your company or firm by another user:
- Review the message details and select Change Admin.
- Adjust the settings as necessary.
- Make sure the app is now associated with your user ID by going to My apps.
After you change the admin, you can now disconnect the app using the same steps.
