Update business and account information

Learn how to update business and account information in your QuickBooks Payments account.

Change your addresses, bank accounts, and other business information in your QuickBooks Payments account to keep your account information up to date.

For the security of your account, adhere to the following guidelines:
  • Users with Full Admin access can see and change information in your account profile.
  • Only the principal's user ID (Master Admin User ID) can make change requests to update the DDA (Direct Deposit Account) on file.
  • Create a new account with the correct information if the account Tax ID, SSN, or Legal Business Name need to be changed.

What you can update:

  • Doing Business As (DBA) - the name your customers see on their receipts. This must match the name on your deposit bank account.
  • Industry type
  • Ownership type
  • Website address

To change your business information:

  1. Log in to your QuickBooks Payments account.
  2. From the menu, select Account, then Account Profile.
  3. Go to the Account Holder/Business Information section, then select Edit.
  4. Change your business information as desired, then select Submit.

The deposit account you want to update must be:

  • transactional (where Intuit can deposit and withdraw funds)
  • US-based account, and
  • should have the same name as you entered in the DBA field.
Note: To update your bank account in QuickBooks Desktop (where changes in Payments are being tracked), follow the steps in Configure deposit and fees account settings in Record Merchant Service Deposits.

What you can update:

  • Account type: checking or savings
  • Routing number
  • Account number
  • Account nickname

Important: For account security, you may be prompted to enter the last four digits of your business Tax ID number or SSN.

To change your bank account information:

  1. Log in to your QuickBooks Payments account.
  2. From the menu, select Account, then Account Profile.
  3. Go to the Deposit Account Information section, then select Edit (or Add if you haven't added an account yet).
  4. Select how you want to receive the code (text or voice call).
  5. Enter the code in the pop-up window.Enter confirmation code to verify identity in QuickBooks Online
  6. When prompted, enter the Account Type followed by the Routing/ABA Number and Account Number, then select Submit.Edit despot account information button in QuickBooks Online

 

What you can update:

  • Physical and mailing address
  • Phone number
  • Merchant's service number (for your merchant to view)
  • Contact email

To change your contact information:

  1. Log in to your QuickBooks Payments account.
  2. From the menu, select Account, then Account Profile.
  3. Go to the Contact Information section, then select Edit.
  4. Change your contact information as desired, then select Save.
Note:
  • The physical address can't be a PO Box.
  • There are different email addresses associated with your Payments account. Each one receives different kinds of messages.
    • News about your account goes to your Contact Email. This address also appears on your receipts.
    • Account access messages go to your Intuit Account Email.
    • Statement or deposit alerts go to individual email address destinations you set for each alert type.
