Update billing, subscription, and firm info

by Intuit•37• Updated a day ago

Important Update: Starting July 8, 2026, both Primary Admins and Company Admins will have the ability to update, upgrade, downgrade, or cancel firm-level subscriptions and billing details.

Here is how you can use the Subscriptions and billing section to manage your firm and client accounts.

1. Manage your Firm's Subscription (Firm Subscriptions tab)

This tab is where you manage your firm's specific software tier. You can toggle between Intuit Accountant Suite and QuickBooks Online Accountant, upgrade to Intuit Accountant Suite Accelerate, or manage add-ons like Books Close.

To change your plan:

  1. Go to Settings âš™ and select Subscriptions and billing.
  2. Select the Firm subscriptions tab.
  3. Select Downgrade your plan (or the applicable upgrade option) to change your subscription tier.

2. Update Payment Methods and Invoices (Billing details tab)

The Billing details tab houses the payment information for both your accountant-billed client subscriptions and your firm's own software subscription costs.

To update your payment method:

  1. Go to Settings âš™ and select Subscriptions and billing.
  2. Select the Billing details tab.
  3. Next to your Payment Method, select the pencil icon to update the credit card on file.

To view past invoices:

  1. On the Billing details tab, scroll down to the Payment history section.
  2. Under the Action column, you can choose to View PDF, Export to PDF, or Export CSV.

Note: Your payment history in this view begins on 05/28/2026. You will not receive invoices for subscriptions that are billed directly to your clients.

3. Manage Client Subscriptions (All clients tab)

This tab allows you to manage the individual subscriptions tied to your firm. You can easily filter your list by selecting Show only accountant-billed, Show only client-billed, or Show only split-billed, or use the search bar to find a specific client by name or ID.

4. Discover Growth and Revenue Opportunities

The Subscriptions and billing section also includes three tabs designed to help you grow your practice:

  • Product recommendations: Discover personalized QuickBooks recommendations curated to boost efficiency for specific clients. You can select Add to start a subscription or Go to client's books to investigate further.
  • Discover more: Stay up-to-date with what is new in QuickBooks, including the latest Intuit Intelligence updates.
  • Revenue share payouts: Track your general and Payments payouts for enrolling clients in QuickBooks products.

5. Security & Governance: Reviewing User Access

Because Company Admins will share billing and subscription access starting July 8, 2026, we highly recommend that Primary Admins audit their firm's user access list.

If you have staff members assigned to the Company Admin role who should not have the authority to alter firm billing, change software tiers, or incur charges, please create a custom role or downgrade their access level prior to July 8.
