Void or refund transactions in QuickBooks Payments

Per Payment Card Industry (PCI) regulations, a refund processed through credit card must have an original offsetting sale prior to being issued. QuickBooks Payments allows you to process refund within six months from the date of the sale. After this period, you can provide refund using cash or check.

Credits (refunds, reversals) to a customer's card performed after the batch closes will incur the same processing fees as the original transaction however, void or canceled transactions (those that occur before the batch closes) will not incur the same processing fees as the original transaction.

The easiest way to search for a transaction is by date, amount and last 4 digits of the customer's credit card number.
