Add account numbers to your clients in QuickBooks Online to help keep your accounts organised.
Assign account numbers to your customers
While there is no official account number field, you can add an account number to a field displayed in QuickBooks Online or your customer’s invoices.
- Go to Sales and select Customers (Take me there).
- Select a customer to open the customer page, then select Edit.
- Add a unique account number to the beginning of the customer’s name in the appropriate field. QuickBooks won't keep you from using the same account number twice.
- To sort by account number in QuickBooks, add a unique account number to Customer display name.
- If you want customers to see the account number, enter “Account number:” and add a unique account number in the first line of Street address.
- Select Save.
