Transfer your QuickBooks Online billing to your accountant

Learn how to let your accountant take over and manage your billing for your QuickBooks Online subscription.

If you have an active QuickBooks Online plan, you can let your accountant take over and manage your billing for you. Once you transfer your billing, we’ll stop charging you for your active plan. Moving forward, you’ll pay your accountant instead for your subscription to QuickBooks. Then it’s up to your accountant to add your subscription as part of other services you get from them.

When you’re ready, here’s how to securely transfer your QuickBooks billing to your accountant.

Step 1: Invite your accountant to QuickBooks

If you haven’t already, make sure to give your accountant access to your QuickBooks Online company.

Once they accept your invite, they will be added to your QuickBooks as an accountant user.

Step 2: Give your accountant permission to take over your billing

Keep in mind that you have to be the master admin of the company to do this.

  1. Go to Settings ⚙, then select Account and Settings.
  2. Select Billing and Subscription, then Allow billing transfer to your accountant.
  3. Choose the name of the accountant you wish to transfer your billing to.
  4. Select Allow transfer.
  5. The permission expires in 2 days. Let your accountant know that they can now take over your direct billing.

If your accountant hasn’t taken over your billing yet, you can still cancel their permission to do so. Here’s how.

  1. Go to Settings ⚙, then select Account and Settings.
  2. Select Billing and Subscription, then select Allow billing transfer to your accountant.
  3. Next to your accountant’s name, select Cancel permission.
