Just migrated from QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2021 to QuickBooks Online. Customer Names / Payees no longer appear in the bank register. How can this data be migrated?

Editing the transactions to add customer names or payees by hand can take extra time and effort, David. I can share another way to help you enter data with ease.
Please know that migrating the names to the bank register in QuickBooks Online is unavailable. In this case, you can manually enter those data for each transaction.
Moreover, you may consider looking for a third-party application that allows you to add the names in bulk to the Bank feed. By doing so, we can alleviate the process through this method. Follow the steps below to proceed:
- Sign in to your QBO account.
- Go to the Apps menu, then select Find Apps (Take me there).
- Start your search from there.
Furthermore, I recommend submitting a request to our developers. They will review and may consider implementing it based on users' suggestions. I'll show you how:
- Go to the Gear icon at the top.
- Under the Profile column, select Feedback.
- Share your recommendation with the product, then click Next.
Stay updated on our recent developments by visiting our website or blog.

Thanks. I could try that. What if I update my Quickbooks Desktop to a newer version (2022 or 2023) and then migrate to QuickBooks online? Would that migrate the Payee names in the bank register?

Hi there, David. Migrating the payee's names in the bank register from QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to QuickBooks Online (QBO) is unavailable, regardless of the version used.
In the meantime, you can consider exploring our third-party app that offers migration services or importer tools to automate bulk import or modification of payee names.
You can directly visit our QuickBooks App Store or go through the Apps menu in your product. Here's a quick guide on how to access it:
- Click Apps from the left panel, then go to the Find Apps tab.
- From the search bar, type in the keyword to look for an app.
- Once done, you can choose a migration or importer app from the lists that suit your business needs,
Additionally, I still recommend sending feedback to our product developers for them to review and potentially implement this functionality in future updates.
Here's how:
- Go to the Gear icon, then choose Feedback.
- Type in your valuable suggestions and recommendations.
- Select Next to submit.
You can track your recommendations through our Feature Requests website.
Moreover, you can visit these resources as a guide to managing your QBO account effectively:
- Getting Started in QuickBooks Online.
- Adjust the QuickBooks homepage.
- Manage billing, payment, and subscription info.
If there's anything else you need help and clarification with the migration process, please tap the reply button below. Rest assured, I'll jump in as soon as I can. Stay safe, David!
