Hello there, @ALALLC.

Allow me to share more details about the dates in your company file in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

This is common when using the Sample company file, the date that will show will be either in the past or future.

If you aren't using the sample company file, I'd recommend performing the Verify and Rebuild method. This will check if there is data damage to your company file. Before doing this process, you need to create a back up file to avoid data loss.

Here's how to Verify your company file:

  1. Go to the File menu, select Utilities.
  2. Click on the Verify data tab, select OK

If there will be a notification that says, "Your data has failed the integrity check" you can rebuild your file. To know more about the detailed steps, check out this article: Verify and rebuild data in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

If there's no problem with your file, I'd suggest contacting our QuickBooks Customer Care Team. They have the tools to verify your account and check further what has caused this issue.

I've added this manual that you can use for your future tasks: QuickBooks Desktop for MAC User's Guide 2020.

Please don't hesitate to tag my name in the comment section below if you have other questions with QuickBooks. I'd be glad to help you further. Take care.
