Employees and payroll
Hello there, Sommersetangela.
All federal taxes you entered in the employee's W-4 will post on the Employee Taxes section under the Federal Income Tax (FIT) field. If you want to see how it works and is calculated, you can edit the Extra withholding amount to $11 for example. Then, save it and create a dummy paycheck to see the difference in the employee's FIT withholding.
If it's not being added still, the issue can be browser-related. There are times that the browser is full of stored cache files, thus causing websites, like QuickBooks Online not to perform well.
You can try logging into your QBO account using a private browser. To use a private browser, here's how:
- Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
- Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
- Safari: Command + Option + P
Then, create a paycheck to see if the extra withholding is being calculated. If this works, it means that you need to clear your browser's cache so the system can start fresh. If you get the same result while using a private browser, I recommend switching to a different browser.
Feel free to use this article on what’s changing with the Federal W-4?.
Keep me posted on how this works. I'll be around to help. Take care!
