Hello there, Mfd11. I'd be glad to walk you through the process of migrating your company files from QuickBooks Online (QBO) to QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

Before we proceed, can you please share details about this one thing that didn't migrate back to your desktop program? This information will assist us in finding the right solution.

When transitioning from QBO to QBDT, we can transfer specific data using the migration tool, which is cost-effective. To get started, download the migration tool and the desktop program. Keep the desktop program open while transferring your files. Follow these steps to proceed:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online account and go to the Export Overview page.
  2. Select Get Started and choose Download tool (keep this page open on your browser).
  3. Install the migration tool, then select Next.
  4. Read and accept the terms in the license agreement, then click Next.
  5. Hit Install, then select Finish.

Once completed, we can proceed with exporting your data:

  1. In the Prepare to export page, hit Continue.
  2. Select the QuickBooks Online data you want to export, then select Continue (Choose All financial data or All financial data without transactions).
  3. In the Request your data page, click Continue.
  4. Fill in the Name and Email address fields, then select Continue.
  5. Select Close (Email confirmation may take time, depending on the data to migrate. Check your QuickBooks Online home page for updates).
  6. Next, go to the Export Overview page.
  7. In the Prepare to export page, follow the instructions for online migration. Then, select Continue.
  8. In the Exporting from QuickBooks Online page, select Continue to Download.
  9. Then, click Download QBXML file.
  10. Save the file to your desktop program, then press Continue.

By following these steps, we can migrate your data without incurring high costs. You can find detailed instructions in Step 3 of the article Move data from QuickBooks Online to QuickBooks Desktop. After that, proceed to Step 4 to confirm if the exported data matches.
