Customize invoice beyond customization options available online. Is there any there third party connectors that we can use?

I know the customization options for invoice is limited.  Is there a way to use add ons, plugins to customize it more?  

I need the spacing to be fixed, I need the pre-vat amount to be printed in subtotal section, ...  All of which aren't avail options.
