You can merge more than two items, given that they have the same type. If the items don't have sub-items, however, you're still unable to merge them, let's run some troubleshooting steps.
To start with, let's re-sort the item list:
- From the Lists menu, select Items.
- Select the All Names checkbox.
- Select Edit at the top left of QuickBooks.
- Select Re-sort List.
- Select OK.
If the same thing happen, let's perform the verify and rebuild steps:
To verify:
- Click Window and select Close All.
- Then, go to the File menu.
- Select Utilities.
- Click Verify Data.
To Rebuild:
- Go to the File menu.
- Select Utilities.
- Click Rebuild Data.
