2019 iff review not opening
I recently upgraded to Quickbooks Pro Desktop 2019. Today I tried importing an .iff file and it totally failed to import anything. I tried to "Review" it for error from the screen and the file won't open. Feature is not working properly.

Hello there, BK40.
I appreciate you for dropping by here in the Community. It would be my pleasure to help you get the IIF file to work in QuickBooks Desktop.
You can use the Microsoft Excel program to make corrections to the IIF file.
Here's how:
- Open Microsoft Excel.
- Click the File menu.
- Select Open.
- Select the IIF file.
- Click Open.
- Select Next twice and Finish in the Text Import Wizard.
- Make the necessary edits.
- Save the changes.
In case you need more insights about exporting IIF, I'm adding the article I recommend down below (scroll down to Edit the exported file):
Export or import Intuit Interchange Format (.IIF) files.
If you're unable to fix the problem by following the steps above, please give us a call. Our Technical Support Specialists will need to look into this further using the tools they have in a more secure environment.
You can reach them through these steps:
- Go to: https://help.quickbooks.intuit.com/en_US/contact#qbdt-select.
- Select your QuickBooks version.
- Choose a topic.
- Scroll down and select Get Phone Number.
Please know I'm always here if there's anything else I can do for you. The Community will always have your back.

Yes, you're right it doesn't work properly for 99% of everyone because an IIF file is associated with QuickBooks when QuickBooks is installed, and you can't open an IIF file with QuickBooks by launching (double-clicking) the file, which is what this QB link/code is doing. I've no idea how Intuit came up with this, as it's pretty basic stuff to figure out that it won't work for anyone. All you need is a basic understanding of how windows works to be able to figure this out.
You can get around this sort of nonsense in QB 2019 by following these recommendations:

You answered my problem as I was chatting with QB representative. Your solution worked (and quicker than chat)! I expected Quickbooks 2019 to be better than 2016. Thank you for addressing this bug in the software.

This solution does not work as my iff file is supposed to work with Quickbooks Launcher within Quickbooks.

Hi BK40,
Did you get a prompt or error message when you import your IIF file? Have you tried the steps provided by AlcaeusF to review the file?
For a thorough checking, please get in touch without phone agents. They have more tools to check this further.
Here's to get their number:
- Follow this link: https://help.quickbooks.intuit.com/en_US/contact.
- If you're prompted to choose a product, choose QuickBooks Desktop.
- If you’re prompted to choose a version, select Pro or Premier.
- Select a main topic and a sub-topic.
- Scroll down, and click the Get Phone Number.
Feel free to comment below if you have other questions.

Yes, that is what the OP is complaining about. Is that unclear?

The help articles linked to by Intuit state directly that Support will not support IIF. Odd that you're sending the OP to support in such a case.

Thanks for the solution. Importing has become needlessly more cumbersome. QB 2019 is supposed to be an improvement???? Who is running the company?!? They're AWFUL! Plus, their customer service is the worst of any company I've ever tried - even worse than Comcast. Ugh!

These ridiculous issues need to be corrected. Every time Quickbooks forces me to upgrade I deal with tons of new garbage and issues, just like the iif issues. Every time I search for solutions, it's always someone from QB telling us some ridiculous work around. Your software literally has a link that says "REVIEW NOW"...what the heck is the purpose of this if it doesn't work for anyone? QB needs to get their act together. I'm so tired of this.
