Quick books online interface
I was looking to update/upgrade my QB to the online version, but the new interface kinda stinks. I was just told by a rep that if I can download the QBO advance app, I can change the interface. Is this possible or are we left with the standard views of business or accounting?

Happy Holidays, Pdstevie.
We can switch to a different view, such as Map or Dashboard view, using the QuickBooks Online Advanced Desktop app.
Here's how to download the app:
- Sign in to your QuickBooks Online Advanced or Accountant account.
- Go to Gear ⚙ and select Get the desktop app.
- Depending on your settings, you might see the app install automatically. Or you might be prompted to save the .exe file.
- If you’re asked, choose where you want the file saved on your computer and select Save. Then, open the QuickBooks Advanced Setup file to start the installation.
- During installation, a shortcut to the app is installed on your desktop. After the app is installed, it should open automatically. If it doesn’t, open the app from the shortcut.
- On the sign-in screen, enter your user ID and password. Then select Sign in.
- If you see more than one QuickBooks Online Advanced company, select the company you want to open. Note: If there is no QuickBooks Online Advanced company associated with your user ID, an error message will display.
- The first time you use the Advance desktop app, you’ll see an option to select how QuickBooks is displayed on the main homepage. (you can change this later)
- If you’re switching from QuickBooks Desktop and want a similar view, select Yes, let’s go.
- If you’re already familiar with QuickBooks Online, select No, I already know how to use QuickBooks Online.
- After selecting your company, you’re all set.
We can check this article for the necessary system requirements to ensure the app runs smoothly: Download and use the QuickBooks Online Advanced desktop app. We'll be able to see what details we can see between each view using the same link.
If you have additional thoughts, I recommend providing feedback through your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account. This way, it goes to our product developers to help improve your program experience.
Please contact me if you have any further questions about the QuickBooks interface, Pdstevie. It is my priority to address all of your concerns. If you need me, I'm only a few clicks away; take care!

Just for clarification, the ”desktop” app only works with the advanced version of QBO? not the plus or essentials…is that correct?

Yes, you're correct, @Pdstevie. The desktop app currently works only with the Advanced version of QuickBooks Online (QBO). Let me share further details about this.
For the time being, the QBO (Mac and Windows) desktop app is no longer supported using other versions, like Simple Start, Essentials, or Plus. However, you can access your account via a web browser or mobile app. To learn more about this, please refer to this page: QuickBooks Online Mac and Windows Desktop App update.
On the other hand, the QBO Advanced desktop app is new option for Advanced customers to access their account. You can visit this article if you want to go through its features and usage: Download and use the QuickBooks Online Advanced desktop app.
Also, after you upgrade from QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to QBO, you may want to check out this article as your reference to guide you about the steps you should take to make sure your data is ready to go: What to do after you move from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online.
Please feel free to leave a comment below if you have other feature concerns or questions about managing your business growth and transactions in QBO. I'm always ready to help. Take care, and I wish you continued success, @Pdstevie.

This new online interface is so terrible and glitchy. It takes me 10 minutes to bill my customers an invoice. So f-ing horrible. Time to fire these software engineers that made this product worse.
