It's odd you're seeing that message.Usually it only appears when first using a new version-year of QuickBooks.
In any case, it doesn't indicate there's an update to be applied.

I agree with BigRedConsulting. There is nothing to update at the moment.

I did do an automatic update, and nothing new was updated. I closed quick books and opened again and got this message. I have two companies I use in quick books and I am getting the same message on both. Have attached a copy of the message.

You can click the Install Later button and secure a new backup of your company files. The next time you open QB, you will be forced to update the Release version. You can post again here if you encounter any problems.

I have done that, but today it says that I need to install it. I did do a back up this morning, however, I have tried installing twice now and it keeps getting stuck at 59% and will not go any further.

Hey there, @mary53.
We have been investigating an issue being reported for program updates appearing to be frozen or stuck. After many weeks of research and partnering with Microsoft we have implemented a tool to help resolve this issue. The "Add Defender Exclusion" tool is part of the latest version of the QuickBooks Tool Hub (v1.6.0.6 or later) under the Installation Issues tab.
QuickBooks Tool Hub can be downloaded from this help article: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/help-article/login-password/fix-common-problems-er...
It was found that Microsoft Defender's real time scanning is preventing the update from installing at the expected speed. Currently, the update can take upward to an hour or more to complete. With the "Add Defender Exclusion" tool, an exclusion is added to Defender which brings that time down to just minutes.
If there are any changes we'll make sure to include them on our help article for this update issue: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/help-article/update-products/quickbooks-update-st...
We appreciate your patience while we partnered with Microsoft to understand this issue and get something out there to improve your experience with QuickBooks.
I hope this clears up some questions for you. If you have any other concerns, don't hesitate to reach back out. Have a great day!

Unfortunetly, I am not comfortable downloading anything. The last time that I did that it turned out to be a scam and I had all sorts of things added to my computer. When i tried to open my quickbooks after the download got stuck, it opened for me, but now today, it says that there is another update. How many updates can there be?
