Thanks for your reply. I did re-submit the form, received the email confirmation that it was received and processed successfully by the IRS.
Afterward, I did call the IRS and held on line for over an hour. This was pretty much a wasted hour as she was very unconcerned and unhelpful. She kept asking me what the letter said, and after repeating it for the third time, she finally said well if you owe any penalties they will be contacting you within a couple of weeks. I asked how much they might be and she said usually 10 %. For a small church like mine, that would come out to about 2600.00. We have just replaced 4 commercial HVAC units, so Ouch! that would hurt. She finally said that if I had not had any previous penalties that they probably would not hit us with one for this.
Good to know, but just a little unsettling that she did not seem to be very confident in her answers.
