How to lodge Single Touch Payroll events for micro employers
by Intuit• Updated 1 year ago
Learn how to lodge Single Touch Payroll (STP) events to the ATO on behalf of an employer with a quarterly reporting concession (such as a micro employer).
If your business meets the requirements of a micro employer, you can ask your registered Tax/BAS agent to report on your business's behalf on a quarterly basis. Check your eligibility for the quarterly STP reporting concession on the ATO website.
Once the business has been granted the quarterly reporting concession, the registered Tax/BAS agent can create an Update Event every quarter to report STP. To do this:
- Finalise all outstanding pay runs.
- Navigate to the Employees page, then select the Reports tab.
- Under ATO Reporting, select Single Touch Payroll.
- Select the Create Update Event button.
- Select the relevant financial year and main pay schedule, then select Create.
A list of all employees related to that pay schedule will appear on the screen along with their year-to-date payroll details.
For more information on creating an Update Event, refer to this guide: Create and lodge an update event.
This quarterly STP Update Event will need to be lodged once each quarter at the same time your quarterly business activity statement (BAS) is due.
For the final quarter of 2021 (April to June) you will need to report and finalise your STP data by 14 July 2021.
