T3 2022 XML Files

This is a message to Intuit/Profile developers.

I would like to use your product this year tile a single T3 return.  I would be buying the Onepay license for a single T3 return to be filed.

Last year, there was an updated to the CRA EFILE process, however Intuit did not update the T3 software to include the option to create an XML file for the T3 return itself - meaning it was impossible to file the return without printing it and mailing it.

I am requesting that the software be updated this year to allow for the XML file to be produced and EFLING of a T3 to be possible.

Here is a link to the forum where I was discussing this last year.
I look forward to hearing from the development team, and hope that this function will be implemented in the 2022 software.

Thank you,

Craig

So, these returns can be paper filed or electronically filed for those with a CRA efile number. The T3 return is in this group.

The other group that can be XML transferred are:

The T3 return is not in this group

Hi

Unfortunately, T3 E-file replaced internet transfer of an XML. From 2021 onward, the T3 return can be sent by e-file only. Slips from the T3 module are still by XML transfer.

Hi Duncan,

Were you able to read through the thread I linked from last year? https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-ca/efile-issues/efiling-t3-wac/00/826907
It actually goes back through 2 years of discussion.

I was able to file the 2020 return with this software, however in 2021 the software didn't actually have the functional capability to file the return.  I was forced to print the return and mail it in.

Will it be possible for an individual like me to purchase the OneFile 2022 license for a T3 return, and EFILE it?
Or would I need some sort of EFILE authorization from CRA in advance? My understanding is that they only grant EFILE access to larger filers.

Again, due to the switch to EFILE option with CRA, Profile didn't build the option to file the T3 return via XML into the 2021 software.  We could still file the T slips via XML, but needed to either use the 2020 software to file electronically, or print the return physically from the 2021 software and mail it in.

I would like to know if there will be a way for me, as an individual, to file a T3 using Profile software without mailing it in for 2022.

Thanks so much for your help.

T3 2022 XML Files

Hi

To file a T3 return for 2022 an e-file number will be required. Anyone meeting the CRA requirements can receive a CRA e-file number. Anyone can apply and more information can be found here. Note there is a CRA 30 day screening period, so apply for the efile number as soon as possible.

Hi Duncan,

Thank you for all your responses so far.  It is unfortunate that CRA will no longer accept the old method of electronic filing, but I understand that PROFILE must work within CRA's requirements.  I will look into obtaining an EFILE number, and if it would work/make sense for me.

Thanks again,

Craig

T3 2022 XML Files

Hi Duncan,

I started looking into getting EFILE registration, and CRA still has information about XML transfer listed on their website.
https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/tax/trust-administrators/t3-return/how-file-t3-retu...

  1. Download the schema or use your software to create and save your return in XML format. If your file size is more than 150 MB, you may have to send fewer returns per file.
  2. Make sure you have your web access code and your trust account number. If you do not have your web access code, you can get one at Web access code.
  3. To submit electronically, go to Internet file transfer (XML).

Any further comments or thoughts on this matter?  It appears that CRA is still promoting the use of 'your software' to create and save a return in XML format.
