What happens to my QuickBooks Online data after I cancel?

QuickBooks Online stores your data with read-only access for 1 year after you cancel your subscription or your trial expires The specific data retention period depends on how your account was cancelled.
Data retention policy
| Cancellation Status | Data Access Level | Duration |
| Cancelled subscription | Read-only access | 1 year from the date of cancellation. |
| Cancelled trial / Expired trial | Read-only access | 1 year from the date of cancellation. |
| Credit card declined | Full access (grace period) | 14 days to update billing information. During the 14-day grace period for declined credit cards, you can create new transactions or make changes to your company data.  |
| Credit card declined (after grace period) | Read-only access (account suspended) | 1 year following the 14-day grace period. |
Exporting your data
We recommend that you export or print your data before you cancel your account. However, you can still export your data as long as you are within the 1-year read-only access period of your cancelled account.
Resubscribe to QuickBooks Online
If you resubscribe within 12 months of cancelling a paid QuickBooks Online subscription, you will be able to access your earlier data.
If you resubscribe after 12 months, you can use the same credentials, but your previous data will no longer be available.
We recommend that you export or print your data before cancelling your account.
