
Add custom transaction numbers to sales forms in QuickBooks Online

Use the Custom transaction numbers option to set your own numbering preference. This adds an Invoice number field where you can enter any number or letter format you want.
Prerequisites
To turn custom transaction numbers on or off.
Note: You can switch the Custom transaction numbers feature on and off to set your own numbering preferences.
- Go to Settings
and select Account and settings.
- Select Sales, then select anywhere within the Sales form content section.
- Turn Custom transaction numbers on or off.
- Select Save, then select Done.
Change an invoice number
- Go to Sales and select Invoices (Take me there).
- Select any invoice, then select View/Edit. Or, select Create invoice to create a new invoice.
- In the Invoice no. field, enter the custom number or letter sequence you want to use.
- Select Save or Save and close.
