by Intuit• Updated 5 months ago
Learn how QuickBooks maximizes performance by using the full power of 64-bit processors found in most modern computers.
The full capability of a 64-bit processor, introduced with QuickBooks Desktop 2022, improves stability and performance.
- Save valuable time when you open your company files or run reports.
- Seamless third-party integrations with the framework most developers prefer.
- Meets modern operating system standards.
Lab-tested performance with 64-bit QuickBooks
QuickBooks Desktop 2022 is up to 38% faster.*
*Based on lab testing vs. prior QuickBooks Desktop (32-bit) versions using a 1GB average file size. Average speed improvement was observed when running “Report Profit and Loss Detail Accrual.” Actual results may vary.
You can see the difference with larger company files. But you may not be able to see much improvement with files under 1 GB.
Install 64-bit QuickBooks Desktop 2022 or 2023
You can download and install QuickBooks Desktop 2022 or 2023 as you normally would.
Most Windows 64-bit operating systems support 64-bit QuickBooks Desktop. These include Windows 10 Enterprise, Home, and Professional as well as Windows Server 2003, 2012 and 2016. See our complete list of system requirements.
Note: QuickBooks Desktop 2022 and 2023 editions aren’t compatible with 32-bit operating systems. If you try it, the installer may start, but ultimately won't complete.
You’ll still see the same capabilities you’ve come to expect with QuickBooks.
Multi-user | No changes in the number of concurrent users. Improved performance and stability. |
Subscription | For subscription customers, the same license will work. |
Third-party integrations and services | Third-party integrations continue to work seamlessly. Services connected to QuickBooks won't be affected. |
Restore an older backup file or your Accountant's Copy
QuickBooks Desktop 2022 and 2023 can restore a backup made with a previous version of QuickBooks Desktop (32-bit).
There isn’t a change in workflow, nor impact with your Accountant’s Copy, and file updates occur the same as normal.
Learn what to do if you need to uninstall the current or previous version of QuickBooks Desktop.
