How to tell ProFile where BackupFile folder is.

I create custom folders for where I want files, efile notices, and backup files to go. I've created them and told ProFile where to put the files and efiles, but can't find where to instruct it to put the backup files. Can someone tell me where to do that? Thanks.

How to tell ProFile where BackupFile folder is.

Hi, thank you for using Intuit ProFile Community

ProFile can be instructed to keep a back up tax file using a check box in Options > Environment > File tab. If this box is checked, ProFile will keep a backup file in a BackupFile folder located in a directory where the tax file is located. Unfortunately there is not an option to change the location of the BackupFile folder.

I apologize for any inconvenience  but hope this helps

How to tell ProFile where BackupFile folder is.

Thanks for this. I just tested it and yes, they are being saved in the BackupFile Folder I created within the overall folder to this year. I thought I had to specify where, so it's great to know that I don't have to.

How to tell ProFile where BackupFile folder is.

This can be a problem. I just had my system crash, and when I was forced to 'restore' windows, I lost all my apps and data, including the Profile data stored in my 'Documents' folder.  I was fortunate that I had copied that file to an external drive location, and was able to restore the data.  If I had not done that, I would have lost all my Profile data back to 2011.....

I strongly recommend that you REGULARLY save your "My Profile Data" file to an external drive for safekeeping.  Most commercially available backup software can be programmed to do this, even though Intuit and Profile have not yet seen the value in this.
