New resident to Canada in 2020. He/she has earned income in previous country before immigranting to Canada. If we do not fill how much was earned befor coming to Canada then CRA sends letter asking income before a person came Canada and credits are delayed till that info. is sent. Where do I enter this income in tax return so CRA does not need to ask again?
Thank you.
you should be able to enter it in foreign income. just type foreign income in search bar and the form should come up. it would be world income. hope this helps.
I will try. Thank you,
Hi, thank you for using Intuit Profile Community
Once the date of entry is entered on the Info tab, boxes 52920 and 52930 appear, these boxes are used to enter foreign income earned before the date of entry for the purpose of calculation of non-refundable credit proration. The foreign income screen should only be used to report foreign income earned after the date of entry.
There is not a way to enter world wide income for the whole year for other purposes on a part year return. CRA also asks for income for non residency period for GST and Canada Child Benefit purposes: to apply for these use either rc151 or rc66. More information can be found here.
Hope this helps
Thank you. that makes sense. I was looking at foreign income at CRA website, it states that this form to be used if foreign income earned while in Canada. Will try it and post here.
