I am having an issue with printing a PDF in Profile and password protected. We run the program on two computers but have the issue only on one. Have followed the suggested fix, checked all the settings but still no password. This feature has always worked but since the last update it no longer works. I'm running version 2020.2.0 which currently is the latest version. Any further suggestions would be appreciated.
I'm having this issue, too. Has there been nobody out there that has the answer?
I did see an answer the other day, I'll see if I can find it again.
oops, the issue in that case was garbled symbols. But to answer your question specifically no, no replies or suggestions at all. I've been using dropbox as an alternative, no password needed in that case. But a pain for sure. I have another print issue that there is no answer to, lots of lookieloos but no answers and that is the size of the printing. At first it was random, suddenly a return would print in small font. Now it is every single return. I am so freaking busy that I cannot spend time on it, small font will have to suffice.
Appreciate your reply and would be helpful if Intuit could have their people provide some support in this space, where there is lack of response.
I did find where to set the password to protect pdf: Options menu\Environment Options\PDF\PDF security. There have number of options to set the password. But my pdf's were still printing without the password protection.
After fumbling around for over an hour, I finally found how to do it! Rather than simply printing the return (i.e. do NOT use the print icons in the menu bar at the top), but you need to Build PDF: File menu\Print/e-mail PDF (i.e. from shortcuts, not Ctrl + P, but Ctrl + Alt + P).
This will also build the pdf so that each section is bookmarked, rather than 1 giant pdf file.
for creating the PDF file I would go to 'file' and select 'print/email pdf' which is the same as your short cut. I've known all along how to password the file only it didn't do that. will have to try again. Frustrating thing is that our other work station has no issues with either of these.
I truthfully am finding support from Intuit lacking this year.
Hi, thank you for using Intuit ProFile Community
This password issue has not been reported, please call us at 1-800-452-9970 so we can investigate.
I apologize for the inconvenience but hope this helps
I have sent the documents to client but dont know what the password is? how do they find out the password or where do I find it? Thank you in advance
Go to options and under file I think. I’m not at a computer with Profile at the moment I use the password option First five letters of the last name and last three numbers of SIN, no spaces. If that doesn’t work for you post again and I’ll be in the office tomorrow and find exactly where it is in the options.
