A married couple want to file their tax individual tax returns separately with different accountants and do not want to disclose their individual income to each other. If I am preparing tax return for one of spouses of this couple, I shall have to show his marital status as married but without showing other spouse’s income under Spousal information of info page, the return is not complete and will show an error. How to tackle this issue in profile.
You have to enter a "pretend" spousal income on the Info screen of the taxpayer you are preparing. Set the amount high so that there are no spousal credits, GST credits, etc. calculated by the program. By not disclosing each other's income, they will have to forego any of those nonrefundable or other credits to which they might be entitled.
